Congratulations to our 2021 PBS Salon of the Year Award Winners!

Whilst last year, Covid-19 lockdown forced us to cancel our annual Skin Summit event, hence our Annual Awards Night Gala Evening - this year we decided nothing was stopping us! Born out of a year full of lockdowns in 2020, we decided at the beginning of 2021 that we would host a virtual awards evening to recognise, celebrate, and acknowledge the success of our partnered salons, spas, and clinics.

On Monday night, the 16th of August, we had our salon partners and their teams from all over Australia join us for our 2021 PBS Virtual Salon of the Year Awards and what a night it was! There were tears of joy, lots of laughter and huge smiles shining through the camera lenses of every attendee. 

Here at PBS, we were thrilled to take a night to appreciate all our hardworking partnered salons and pay tribute to the amazing success they have had over the last 18-months in the face of a global pandemic. Our partnered salons truly showed nothing but grit, perseverance and strength over the past year-and-a-half, each proving they have more than enough passion and ability to succeed, even in the face of lockdowns, restrictions and financial hardship. 

We want to thank each and every one of the salons, therapists and team members who joined us for our virtual awards night and congratulate all the nominees. Without further ado…

We are so thrilled to announce that this year, our annual Salon of the Year Awards are back!

Here at Professional Beauty Solutions, we love nothing more than recognising, celebrating, and acknowledging the success of our partnered salons, spas, and clinics. 

Last year, as Covid cases spiked and lockdowns became the new normal – we were devastated to have to cancel our annual Skin Summit event that plays host to our Annual Awards Night Gala Evenings. This year, nothing was more important to us than ensuring we could recognise our salon partners with an awards evening. 

With that in mind, we are so excited to host our first-ever Virtual Awards on Monday the 16th of August at 7:00pm via Zoom.

Uniting the industry and celebrating our incredible salon, spa and clinics – this year’s PBS Salon of the Year Virtual Awards will recognise the success of our salon partners over the past year.

All business owners, managers and teams are invited to the Virtual Awards Evening where PBS will celebrate the industry and our amazing stockists.

With the coveted “Salon of the Year” award up for grabs once again, a title awarded to the salon that has shown the strongest commitment to growing their business with PBS brands and that has demonstrated excellence in the services they offer, innovative business initiatives and inspiring salon success. We’ll also be awarding “Stockist of the Year” awards for the salons that have delivered unparalleled results with each of our individual brands, plus our “Hall of Fame” winner will be crowned, along with some brand-new award categories!

The newly launched Sofitel Sydney in Darling Harbour was the place to be on Saturday 8th September, where 150 glamorous and excited guests arrived for the Professional Beauty Solutions (PBS) 3rd Annual Awards Gala Dinner.

The evening kicked off with champagne on arrival, canapes and the beautiful Fijian singers from Pure Fiji entertaining guests with their traditional Fijian songs and guitar playing.

With the hundreds of salon owners and beauty therapists mingling and sharing their experiences of Beauty Expo earlier that day, the evening’s MC, Dani Lombard from Dani Lombard PR started the official festivities by welcoming PBS’ salons, partners and international guests including Youngblood’s international brand ambassador and makeup artist Philip Luque, Bestow Beauty founder Janine Tait, Image Skincare’s international educator Dawn Clifford, and Dermalux’s Managing Director Dale Needham. Guests were treated to a 3-course meal while the talented White Tree Band provided the music for the evening.  A montage of Tanya Hennesy’s comical “things people say to beauty therapists & things people say to spray tanners” was also shared on the big screen, before guests where surprised with a video message from Hennesy herself, wishing everyone a great night and best of luck to all the nominees.

As the drinks continued to flow, the PBS Awards ceremony kicked into full gear with winners announced in 12 categories and runner’s up in 3 categories. This year was the first year we also recognised the outstanding achievements of salons who have been with PBS less than 12 months, with the introduction of the Best Newcomer Award!  It was also the first time we announced a tie for any award, with Body Wisdom Contour Clinic and O’Hara Skin & Body (both from WA) taking home the Image Skincare Stockist of the Year Award!  

However, the night belonged to The Beauty Spot, an elegant and tranquil salon centrally located in the heart of Swan Hill, Victoria.  With a total of 9 nominations across all categories, they took home the prestigious Salon of the Year Award for 2018. Salon owner, Christine Ewart took to Instagram to share the salons latest achievement “PBS Salon of the Year 2018! Can you believe that? What an amazing night! And year! And 7 years!”

With an extremely dedicated team at the helm, The Beauty Spot offers a huge range of high end treatments and are repeatedly complimented on their offerings by their clients. They currently stock Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, Image Skincare, Dermalux, Sunescape, Pure Fiji, Bestow Beauty, Body Sugaring Australia, Cherry Blooms and Wotnot Natural Wipes making them almost an exclusive PBS only stockist!

For the third year running, we are hosting the night of nights for all our salon partners to celebrate an amazing year, and be fairly recognised for all the hard work, dedication and passion you put into your business.

The PBS Gala Dinner, hosted over the Beauty Expo Australia weekend every year, is a chance for you to not only be in the midst of hundreds of other salon owners, therapists and beauty lovers like yourself, as well as some of our international brand founders and educators, but PBS will also be announcing the Salon and Stockists of the Year, Marketing Excellence Award and Retail Therapist of the Year!

What each of our awards entails…

Retail Therapist of the Year.

Are you the therapist that cannot let their clients leave without the proper retail homecare and instructions on how to best take care of their skin and body? Do you regularly fill out your Staff Incentive Forms? You could be our next Retail Therapist of the Year! If you know one of your beauty therapists holds these qualities or you think you have what it takes to win, nominate yourself for this amazing award and become the second recipient in PBS history.

Marketing Excellence.

Are you using our Marketing on a Platter (MOAP)? And are you proactive in promoting monthly sales and promotions in salons? Your passion and dedication to the PBS brands will get you over the line with this award. Previously awarded to those salons that have shown incredible initiative in making their social profiles, in-salon displays and entire brand immaculate, nominate your salon to be recognised for your marketing and PR efforts throughout the year.

Stockist of the Year.

Are you dedicated to the brands you stock in salon, so much that you could call yourself a bonafide expert on every single product in the range? Do you succeed in representing the brand’s look, feel and results-driven philosophy in salon? Nominate your salon for our Stockist of the Year award, with 7 of our brands carrying awards on the night, including Youngblood, Image Skincare, Bestow Beauty, Pure Fiji, Sunescape, Body Sugaring & Cherry Blooms.

Winners announced at the PBS Annual Awards Gala Dinner!

The recently renovated Cockle Bay Room at the International Convention Centre, Sydney was the place to be on Saturday 26th August, where 140 glamourous and excited guests arrived for PBS’ 2nd Annual Awards Gala Dinner.

The evening kicked off with champagne on arrival and photo booth fun, with the hundreds of salons and beauty therapists mingling and sharing their experiences of Beauty Expo earlier that day. The evening’s host and MC, Rebecca George started the official festivities by introducing the wonderful James English Band, and encouraging PBS’ salons, partners and international guests, including Youngblood’s global educator and MUA Philip Luque, Bestow Beauty founder Janine Tait, Image Skincare’s international educator Dawn Clifford, and Cherry Blooms’ founder and CEO Jellaine Dee, to take their seats for the night ahead.

Guests were treated to a 3-course meal while mentalist, Phoenix mesmerised the audience with his Mind Magic and Comedy Show.

The PBS Awards ceremony kicked into full gear with winners announced in 11 categories and runner’s up in 3 categories. This year was also the first year that salons were recognised for their passion, marketing and retail achievements, with three new awards added to the mix including the “PBS Passion Award”, “Marketing Excellence Award” and “Retail Therapist of the Year Award”.

However, the night belonged to Bella Spazio who took home two awards including Cherry Blooms Stockist of the Year and the prestigious Salon of The Year Award!

We Crown 2016 Salon of the Year | Body Wisdom Perth

A massive congratulations goes out to the deserving, incredibly dedicated salon team at Body Wisdom Contour Clinic in Perth for becoming Professional Beauty Solutions (PBS) 2016 winner of Salon of the Year!

At our first Passion to Profits 2.0 conference on the 19th and 20th of August 2016, salons nation-wide gathered together at our inaugural gala dinner to find out if they were the lucky winner of the most prestigious prize of the night. That accolade finally went to owner of Body Wisdom, Amy Marvelli.

Body Wisdom is located in the beautiful suburb of Mount Hawthorn, WA where the business has been taken from strength to strength through Amy’s professional, no nonsense, but of course personable approach. Amy’s journey began at Body Wisdom as the manager, but in the last 2 and a half years she has become the owner and operator of the successful salon, and we can certainly see why!

Body Wisdom stocks Image Skincare, Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, Sunescape Tan and Cherry Blooms in order to maintain and constantly improve the versatility in treatments, and the satisfaction of their clients. With a special connection to Image Skincare – Body Wisdom were the first account in Australia to take on the brand, after Amy’s manager used and loved the brand in Ireland – this remains one of their most successful brands, from their treatments to retail range.

Amy is always researching and developing her business, priding herself in being able to provide the best service and results for her clients. With 4 staff members, 6 treatment rooms and a whole bunch of loyal clients, Body Wisdom builds itself up on the fact that they are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to skincare and they understand the value of having a good routine and safe make up with no hidden nasties (which is definitely what we all wish for).

Body Wisdom is a results driven business that will do what it takes to get the best turn around for their clients. Their focus on results for their clients, instead of results as a business, allows Amy and the Body Wisdom team to focus on their passion for helping their clients when they really need it, building amazing relationships and fiercely loyal clients along the way.

Amy has also been very proactive in holding events for her clients so that they can get some expert advice of how to move forward with their home care and treatment plans, following the client even after they leave the treatment room. Additionally, Amy’s social media efforts have been something to strive for. Her proactive approach to Facebook and Instagram, taking up opportunities to launch competitions, engage with her followers, and utilise our very own Marketing on a Platter (MOAP), has pushed her to reach out to more potential clients. The support she receives from us is (hopefully) unparalleled to other salon providers, as Amy feels she is confidently getting that next level of support that she cannot get anywhere else. Thanks Amy!

With these points, we have to say a massive thanks to Amy and her team at Body Wisdom for being incredibly amazing and loyal to us, and congratulations for being our Salon of the Year 2016!
