PBS' 2018 Salon of the Year announced!

The newly launched Sofitel Sydney in Darling Harbour was the place to be on Saturday 8th September, where 150 glamorous and excited guests arrived for the Professional Beauty Solutions (PBS) 3rd Annual Awards Gala Dinner.

The evening kicked off with champagne on arrival, canapes and the beautiful Fijian singers from Pure Fiji entertaining guests with their traditional Fijian songs and guitar playing.

With the hundreds of salon owners and beauty therapists mingling and sharing their experiences of Beauty Expo earlier that day, the evening’s MC, Dani Lombard from Dani Lombard PR started the official festivities by welcoming PBS’ salons, partners and international guests including Youngblood’s international brand ambassador and makeup artist Philip Luque, Bestow Beauty founder Janine Tait, Image Skincare’s international educator Dawn Clifford, and Dermalux’s Managing Director Dale Needham. Guests were treated to a 3-course meal while the talented White Tree Band provided the music for the evening.  A montage of Tanya Hennesy’s comical “things people say to beauty therapists & things people say to spray tanners” was also shared on the big screen, before guests where surprised with a video message from Hennesy herself, wishing everyone a great night and best of luck to all the nominees.

As the drinks continued to flow, the PBS Awards ceremony kicked into full gear with winners announced in 12 categories and runner’s up in 3 categories. This year was the first year we also recognised the outstanding achievements of salons who have been with PBS less than 12 months, with the introduction of the Best Newcomer Award!  It was also the first time we announced a tie for any award, with Body Wisdom Contour Clinic and O’Hara Skin & Body (both from WA) taking home the Image Skincare Stockist of the Year Award!  

However, the night belonged to The Beauty Spot, an elegant and tranquil salon centrally located in the heart of Swan Hill, Victoria.  With a total of 9 nominations across all categories, they took home the prestigious Salon of the Year Award for 2018. Salon owner, Christine Ewart took to Instagram to share the salons latest achievement “PBS Salon of the Year 2018! Can you believe that? What an amazing night! And year! And 7 years!”

With an extremely dedicated team at the helm, The Beauty Spot offers a huge range of high end treatments and are repeatedly complimented on their offerings by their clients. We Crown 2016 Salon of the Year | Body Wisdom Perth

A massive congratulations goes out to the deserving, incredibly dedicated salon team at Body Wisdom Contour Clinic in Perth for becoming Professional Beauty Solutions (PBS) 2016 winner of Salon of the Year!

At our first Passion to Profits 2.0 conference on the 19th and 20th of August 2016, salons nation-wide gathered together at our inaugural gala dinner to find out if they were the lucky winner of the most prestigious prize of the night. That accolade finally went to owner of Body Wisdom, Amy Marvelli.

Body Wisdom is located in the beautiful suburb of Mount Hawthorn, WA where the business has been taken from strength to strength through Amy’s professional, no nonsense, but of course personable approach. Amy’s journey began at Body Wisdom as the manager, but in the last 2 and a half years she has become the owner and operator of the successful salon, and we can certainly see why!

Body Wisdom stocks Image Skincare, Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, Sunescape Tan and Cherry Blooms in order to maintain and constantly improve the versatility in treatments, and the satisfaction of their clients. With a special connection to Image Skincare – Body Wisdom were the first account in Australia to take on the brand, after Amy’s manager used and loved the brand in Ireland – this remains one of their most successful brands, from their treatments to retail range.

Amy is always researching and developing her business, priding herself in being able to provide the best service and results for her clients. With 4 staff members, 6 treatment rooms and a whole bunch of loyal clients, Body Wisdom builds itself up on the fact that they are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to skincare and they understand the value of having a good routine and safe make up with no hidden nasties (which is definitely what we all wish for).

Body Wisdom is a results driven business that will do what it takes to get the best turn around for their clients. Their focus on results for their clients, instead of results as a business, allows Amy and the Body Wisdom team to focus on their passion for helping their clients when they really need it, building amazing relationships and fiercely loyal clients along the way.

Amy has also been very proactive in holding events for her clients so that they can get some expert advice of how to move forward with their home care and treatment plans, following the client even after they leave the treatment room. Additionally, Amy’s social media efforts have been something to strive for. Her proactive approach to Facebook and Instagram, taking up opportunities to launch competitions, engage with her followers, and utilise our very own Marketing on a Platter (MOAP), has pushed her to reach out to more potential clients. The support she receives from us is (hopefully) unparalleled to other salon providers, as Amy feels she is confidently getting that next level of support that she cannot get anywhere else. Thanks Amy!
