Castle Hill’s The Temple Skincare & Spa is a multiple award-winning day spa and medi spa, nestled by the pool inside the boutique hotel, The Hills Lodge. Managed by Rene Herald, a visit to The Temple Skincare & Spa provides luxurious pampering to nurture the body and soul, while their results-driven medi spa offers services and technology that provide guests with outstanding results.

We sat down with the Temple Skincare owner Rene to discuss how they benefit from us, PBS and our services – from training & education - to our free consumer marketing.

What are your top-selling treatments?

Our top-selling services are massages, facials and Dermalux LED, and at Temple Skincare, we believe that having a wellness spa and a results-driven clinic under one roof is the way of the future. We combine advanced skin treatments that deliver visible results to our clients, with a holistic touch of massage and wellness — because we know there’s a demand for both. Our clients can enjoy the best of both worlds with a therapist’s hands offering kinetic touch and holistic healing, while high-tech machinery and advanced cosmeceutical skincare provide real long-term results.

What are the benefits of the PBS online education portal?

The online training portal is a fantastic way to ensure all team members are up-to-date with their training and product knowledge, and we also use it as part of our induction process when we hire new staff. The platform can be used anytime, anywhere, and our team log on at home, during slow periods at work and on their lunch breaks!

How has the support from PBS helped grow your business?

I’m all about relationships, which is one of the main reasons I love partnering with PBS. I don’t feel like I’m just an account or a number with them — they actually care about the success of my business and want to help it become more profitable. Our business development manager is also amazing; she’s always willing to brainstorm and help us put strategies in place and she even does training with us via Skype! We’re so grateful for the high level of knowledge and training we get from PBS — it really does make a world of difference.

Do you use the free marketing support provided by PBS?

Yes! The free Marketing On A Platter (MOAP) materials that PBS provides to all its salons are an absolute life saver! My life is so much easier, because PBS do the hard yards for me. From creating promotions for us to pass onto our clients, to supplying emails, in- store posters and social media graphics to promote them — MOAP gives you everything you need to nail your marketing campaigns!

From Image Skincare, Dermalux LED, and Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, to Bestow Beauty, Pure Fiji and Sunescape Tan - The Beauty Spot now offers over 10 PBS brands, with owner-manager Christine Ewart swearing by them because she knows “they deliver results”.

We sat down with Christine from The Beauty Spot to discuss all her brand & treatment offerings, and just why partnering with Professional Beauty Solutions was so important in the success & growth of her business.

What are your top-selling treatments?

Image Skincare facials and peels and Dermalux LED are our top treatments, because they provide amazing results and are easily supported by great home care products. We recently treated a teenage girl with severe acne, who’d tried every product and prescription medication under the sun without success. After just three Dermalux treatments we started to see incredible results — less redness, fewer pustules and a much calmer complexion. We then incorporated Image Skincare peels and home care products, and her skin completely transformed. As did her confidence!”

Do you use the free marketing provided by PBS?

“Yes, always! The free marketing material PBS provides takes the stress out of running a business. It’s one less thing I need to worry about, and I don’t have to plan promotions ahead of time because it’s done for me! The graphics look beautiful on our social media pages, and we also use their posters in the windows of the salon.”

Why do you like dealing with PBS as a distributor?

“PBS is an exceptional company in all aspects! Ordering is always an easy process, and it’s now even easier thanks to their online ordering form. Staff training is crucial to my salon’s success, and PBS offers several training options throughout the year for each of their brands, which is fantastic. Salon of the Month - Indulgence Salon & Spa

Tucked away on the banks of the Hunter River in the NSW town of Singleton is a beautiful salon that delivers exceptional customer service, outstanding treatments and top-tier marketing! Opening its doors just two and a half years ago, Kyra Webster’s Indulgence Salon & Spa began life as a sole operator business before expanding into the building next door and becoming what is now a team of eight therapists!

Indulgence Salon & Spa have found the perfect balance between salon, day spa and clinic – offering beauty services like mani, pedis and waxing alongside a full day spa menu that includes massage and body treatments. They also offer an injectables service through a talented Sydney-based injector who works out of the salon once a month.

Designing the space from scratch meant Kyra was able to build eight treatment rooms – including a couples retreat room complete with an oversized bath tub – and in June the salon launched their float therapy room with a sensory deprivation pod containing over half a tonne of the highest-quality magnesium salt. Kyra made the move after recognising a shift within the industry towards holistic, alternative therapies, and the introduction of float therapy has proven popular with men as well as women – increasing their male clientele by over 200%!

Initially just a Youngblood stockist, Kyra was inspired to take on additional PBS brands after attending the 2019 PBS Skin Summit, and the salon now stocks Image Skincare, Sunescape, Pure Fiji and Wotnot, and are hoping to bring on a Dermalux unit in the near future. “I fell in love with PBS at Skin Summit,” says Kyra.

Why PBS?

“After attending the Skin Summit earlier this year I was blown away with PBS as a company, says Kyra. “It was incredible to know that a company like PBS could genuinely care about supporting my small salon in a little town from regional NSW.”

The team at Indulgence Salon & Spa see PBS and their stockists as extended family – there to support each other and grow together – and Kyra loves not only the brands but the focus on business growth and development.

“I knew with the support PBS offers I could continue to grow my salon, and I was right!” she says. “In the last 12 months we’ve grown by a massive 465%!” Integral to the salon’s success is BDM Denise, who Kyra says is “absolutely incredible! We can’t thank her enough for her support! No matter how busy she is, she always finds the time for us, and she’s a big part of why we decided to continue growing with PBS.”

EXCELLING AT CUSTOMER SERVICE

For the team at Indulgence, it’s all about the client’s journey. From the time they call to make an appointment to when they leave the salon after their treatment, the journey is professional, smooth and effortless.

“We strive to deliver an exceptional service to every single one of our clients every single time, and we believe it’s the little things that set us apart from our competition,” says Kyra. “It’s the smile that greets you on arrival, the luxurious robes you change into for your spa treatment, and that little bit of extra massage you get during your facial.”

The Indulgence team genuinely care about their clients, and whether it’s taking an interest in their personal life or just being a sympathetic ear, the girls know that forming personal bonds with each client means they’ll come back time after time.

Kyra also knows the importance of having educated therapists, which is why she invests so heavily in training for herself and her team. “Investing in training is one of the most important things you can do in business, because the more knowledgeable a therapist is, the better quality service they’ll be able to provide to the client,” Kyra says. “A good therapist can do a facial, but a great therapist can do a full consultation, suggest the right treatment program and educate a client on where to go from there.”

MARKETING MAESTROS

Kyra has really nailed it with the Indulgence Salon & Spa website – a beautifully designed site that’s visually appealing, easy to navigate and informative. The colour scheme and visual aesthetic is carried over to their social media platforms, which are a fabulous mix of before and afters, beauty tips, inspirational quotes, and product and treatment info.

To celebrate their expansion, Indulgence Salon & Spa held a VIP night where they offered clients Youngblood 4 Minute Makeovers and product and service specials, alongside a delicious selection of food and wine. A full-on couple of hours, it was well worth the effort to showcase the salon’s new facilities, as well as their huge range of treatments and products.

We sold over $6,000 of product in two hours, so it was an incredible success! And it was a great opportunity for the girls to build their retailing skills.

The salon does regular giveaways on Facebook as a way to get clients to try a new brand or product, and to give potential clients the opportunity to fall in love with their PBS brands before they even step foot in the salon. They also have a loyalty program that rewards clients with a free treatment after six visits, and with a dollar-amount discount after 12.

Kyra and the team rely heavily on MOAP resources every month to promote their products and services in-salon, across social media and in emails they send to their client database. While she knows how important marketing is, time isn’t always a luxury Kyra has, and MOAP makes marketing planning so quick and easy. “We love MOAP, and use the social media graphics, the posters and the EDMs,” she says. “All the hard work is done for you, and the quality of the content helps us keep our social channels looking consistent and professional.”

STAFF INCENTIVES

Kyra has recently implemented the PBS Staff Incentive program, as well as an in-house competition that she runs each quarter. A great opportunity for the girls to see how well they’re doing and be rewarded for their hard work, the program and competition keep the girls competitive with themselves as they strive to beat their numbers from the past month!

Toni believes that a strong marketing plan and emphasis on skin planning is what keeps their clients coming back again and again, and the team especially love the new Skin Fit program from Image Skincare. Beautiful You use MOAP graphics on their social media accounts and in their email send-outs – “We love the convenience of MOAP and the professional designs, and find it so helpful with our marketing,” says Toni.

The Beautiful You team know how crucial marketing is to the success of their salon, and from running regular promotions to throwing Christmas and VIP events, Beautiful You is always ahead of the game when it comes to promoting their services and products.

Giving Back

Toni and her team are committed to helping others and improving the lives of disadvantaged women and girls both abroad and here in Australia. Beautiful You Training Ministries Inc. is a not-for-profit founded by Beautiful You that carries out their motto of “Love, Learn, Lead.” Through their partnership with non-profit Destiny Rescue, Beautiful You Training Ministries Inc. uses the professional skills of the You Beauty team and their passion for empowering women to help provide the skills, tools and support needed to help lift girls out of exploitative situations. Over the past three years, Beautiful You Training Ministries Inc. have raised over $12,500 for vulnerable young women in Cambodia, and the team make regular trips to Cambodia to provide women at beauty training salons with supplies and on-site training. It’s no surprise that Beautiful You are the more-than-worthy winners of the November Salon of the Month!

Salon of the Month - O'Hara Skin & Body Clinic

Tucked away 30 minutes south of Perth CBD, O’Hara Skin & Body Clinic is situated in the quiet town of Southern River. What’s not quiet, however, is the constant hustle and bustle of the clinic! Just a year shy of the clinic’s 10th anniversary, founder and owner Erin O’Hara has had her fair share of obstacles to overcome, and describes the last nine years as a “whirlwind.”

Just six weeks after opening, a fire that started in the shop next door ripped through Erin’s clinic and she was forced to start from scratch all over again. Almost a decade later and Erin’s clinic has endured a second fire, two floods, a break-in and a car crashing into the clinic! Despite all this, Erin’s business has continued to grow – going from strength to strength thanks to her amazing staff and loyal clients. “No matter what’s happened, I’ve just kept reminding myself that we’re here for a reason – to achieve healthy, glowing skin for our clients and give people the confidence they deserve!” says Erin.

O’Hara Skin & Body Clinic prides itself on being all about skin, and everything they do is to help protect and improve each and every client’s skin. Erin and her team “live and breathe this industry,” and their commitment to education and learning is at the heart of their success. “We put a huge focus on education to ensure we’re always providing our clients with the best possible care,” says Erin. “I’m halfway through a Cosmetic Chemistry course and despite studying for 25 hours a week, being a wife and raising my 14-year-old son Rylie, you’ll still find me at the clinic for at least 40 hours a week!”
