Our PBS Educational Symposium Wrap Up

It's a wrap! This week saw the kick off of one of PBS' reputable education events, giving our salons unmissable and up-to-the-minute education, look and learn masterclasses, marketing tips and tricks, and expert knowledge.

Not only were hundreds from the PBS community given the opportunity to receive unparalleled education from industry experts like Youngblood's Philip Luque and marketing guru, Daynah Hamilton, but we also gave our salons exclusive new product sneak peeks, and an exciting new brand launch; Pure Fiji.

Congregating at the Hilton Sydney to learn tips, tricks and be treated to exclusive education, beauty professionals all over Australia came to reap in what PBS has to offer...

Day 1 - Youngblood Masterclass with Global MUA Educator Philip Luque and founder Pauline Youngblood

The day started with a bang with the surprise brand announcement we knew many had been waiting for... Professional Beauty Solutions has taken over distribution of Pure Fiji Australia. Guests were certainly treated to this exclusive launch, with a Pure Fiji display for salons to play with the products and learn more about the brand. We can't wait to share more of this amazing brand with you.

Director of Artistry at global makeup brand, Youngblood for 10 years, Philip’s artistry has appeared in the pages of Italian Vogue and W, the Emmys and SAG award shows, and on the faces of celebrities and sports stars worldwide.

Amazing knowledge was shared in the room courtesy of licensed cosmetologist Philip Luque, the global educator for Youngblood and industry expert in his own right, who showed us four diverse and beautiful makeup looks, that really captured the essence of Youngblood's new direction, Effortless California Beauty. Guests were also treated to the long awaited arrival of Pauline Youngblood, the mastermind and face behind Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, who gave a speech highlighting her drive to propel the brand with higher stakes and new products.

From fun at the Youngblood flatlay station and photo ops with Pauline and Philip, our masterclass was a hit!

Thank you PBS for the amazing Youngblood Masterclass on Monday, I loved it! Philip was amazing!!! & it was an honor to meet Pauline & Philip - Mary Choueiri

Day 2 - Marketing Session with Managing Director of Studio Matrix, Daynah Hamilton

Our second day started off with an incredible lecture by none other than Daynah Hamilton, the brains behind marketing agency, Studio Matrix. The room got to learn from one of the greatest experts in the industry, with startling facts about social media:

"90% of consumers trust peer recommendations, while only 14% trust advertising"

"People spend 1 year and 10 months on Facebook, in their lifetime, and 1 year and 7 months on YouTube"

"Readers of traditional magazines are declining rapidly, while influencers on social media like Facebook, Instagram and YouTube are growing exponentially"

Guests learned about the reach of online media, especially how they can grow their businesses through using influencers and small boosted posts on their social pages, at the smallest cost possible.

Amazing knowledge from Daynah today! Thank you for sharing your expertise and knowledge with us all - Lisa Fowler

Day 2 - Image Skincare Worldwide Launch Party

It was time to party on the third and final session of our Educational Symposium! From the moment our guests sashayed into the party, with masquerade masks on and balloons filling the room, the excitement was palpable. With 9 NEW product launches to get through, our salons were given time to play around with the new formulas and brand new product ranges, with a few even receiving all the products as grand prizes!

From enjoying trialing the new products, to learning more about the Care for Skin Foundation that Image Skincare founders fund for those who are in extremely disadvantaged areas, the #WWLP2017 couldn't have run better with amazing feedback on the products, and a tired but wired team afterwards!

What a brilliant day. Thank you Matt and Lisa for hosting today. Philip your enthusiasm & creative techniques have inspired us. Thanks Pauline for being the mastermind behind such an awesome brand! We LOVE you all. - Danielle Singleton

Salon of the Month - Saya Beaute Bar

saya beaute bar-2.jpg

Saya Beaute' Bar takes the term ‘spa’ to a whole new level. Located in Somerville, Victoria, the heavenly spa offers relaxing services to all clients, from tailored individual skincare treatments, to everyday beauty maintenance in the most tropical of landscapes. With 11 years’ experience in the beauty industry and extensive training across all areas, owner Aleshia Fowler leads an amazing team of qualified therapists and trainees to give every client the extra ‘Saya’ touch.

Aleshia has made her spa, from door to treatment room, a blissful escape from the outside, giving every client the opportunity to take the journey to relaxation. “We have designed our spa to feel as though you have stepped into a spa on a tropical island”, Aleshia says, her passion of the industry and professionalism in giving every client a unique takeaway from their experience inside.

A strong contender in the PBS community, Saya Beaute' Bar stocks brands (Sunescape, YoungbloodBody Sugaring, and Wotnot), adding each of them on as their business grew. Youngblood was an essential in their salon, as owner Aleshia had worked with and loved the brand in her previous salons, and knew she had to have it at Saya Beaute' Bar. They have also been exclusive stockists of Pure Fiji since opening their doors nearly 4 years ago, and are excited for the brand to be included into Professional Beauty Solutions’ arsenal.

We have dedicated a lot of our time and passion into [Pure Fiji] and have based nearly every treatment we offer around the product and the Pure Fiji philosophy.

Saya prides itself on being completely professional and focused on the client’s wants and needs. Aleshia and her dedicated therapists take pride in constantly training and educating themselves on the latest in the beauty industry, giving them the opportunity to grow further as a business, and truly love and believe in the treatments they offer.

I believe that if you trust in the product, then your clients will also. I wouldn’t want to recommend a product or treatment to a client that I wouldn’t use myself or believe in.

One of the most important things Saya Beaute' Bar takes with their business, is their focus on customer service, and making sure everyone walks out with a smile on their face and a positive attitude. With their tropical atmosphere and importance on treating clients as part of the ‘Saya family’, clients feel automatically welcomed into the spa.

We do our best to go above and beyond our client’s expectations, and show them we honestly care about their well being. All our clients are treated as VIP clients and receive that special touch no matter what treatment they are having.

Their Youngblood VIP event in late 2016 resulted in over 20 people in salon doing a training event with their resident MUA Lianna, and was successful in both increasing traffic into the spa as well as an influx of sales, especially surrounding Youngblood. “We are so excited to get our clients involved with the brands we stock here, we want them to be as passionate about the brands as much as we are”, Aleshia says, ahead of her salon planning their next few VIP events lined up for this year. Along with this incredible success in salon, Saya also sponsored Miss International Australia, and the winning contestant in Ms Earth Australia taking them international and growing their social media following astronomically.

Saya Beaute’ Bar opened 4 years ago with only 2 therapists and 3 treatment rooms. We are now at 4 years with 4 treatment rooms and 5 therapists and still growing! We are in the process of expanding again and growing with our treatments, professionalism, products and therapists. We can’t wait for this bigger journey to begin and seek the support of PBS!

PBS named the new Australian Distributor of Pure Fiji

Professional Beauty Solutions are very proud to announce that they have acquired the distribution of Pure Fiji in Australia.

“We are so delighted to be able to offer our salons this amazing brand. Like many Australians, my wife and I first fell in love with Pure Fiji whilst on a trip to Fiji 10 years ago.” said Matt Williams, CEO of Professional Beauty Solutions.

In fact, I believe that this is what has made Pure Fiji so popular. 350,000 Australians visit Fiji annually and their products are stocked exclusively everywhere from the resorts to the premium Fijian retail stores, spas and even the business class packs on flights to and from Fiji. This results in hundreds of thousands of Australians becoming raving fans of the products and we feel that this is an extraordinary opportunity for our salon partners. You know that when you stock Pure Fiji, it’s a safe bet that you already have dozens of customers that already love the products.

“We have dreamt of having Pure Fiji as a brand of ours for the last 10 years, so when we were approached by the company, we couldn’t get on a plane fast enough. The family and the Fijians behind this extraordinary brand gave us the most amazing welcome imaginable and shared with us their equally amazing story.” said Matt.

From humble beginnings to the successful international company they are today, Pure Fiji have never forgotten where they came from, not only supporting 170 of the most beautiful local Fijians but also dedicating their time and money to reinvesting back into the local community.

Pure Fiji products represent the lifestyle in the Pacific; pristine environmental surroundings, a bounty of fresh and natural ingredients, and traditions combined with advanced technology for today's natural body care. The complete line of natural beauty therapies (including face, body, hair and bath) contain unique Fijian plant extracts - hand selected to guarantee their highest quality.

“Naturally sourced, eco-friendly and sustainable have become marketing buzzwords in recent times, but Pure Fiji has been living it for decades. We believe that this partnership compliments our current offering of brands perfectly and will contribute enormously to the success of PBS salons.” Matt said.

Pure Fiji's body spa essentials range combines a traditional blend of pure coconut oil and botanical extracts with advanced technology to create an extensive collection of natural bath and body care products, including hydrating body oils, creamy coconut lotions, all-natural handmade soaps and fresh sugar scrubs that will get your skin glowing.

The most rewarding marketing you can do for your salon

Email marketing is known to drive more sales and bookings than any other marketing activity you undertake. Targeting your clients, both potential and existing, right from their pockets, their handheld devices is not only easy for the client to see and click onto, but it is a sure fire way to consistently double, even triple, your sales.

Your social media, combined with your consistent email marketing should be working hand in hand. Creating a great digital strategy that suits your needs and wants, as well as the clients’, then your salon will be reaping the rewards!

Simply put, if you are looking to increase bookings and sales, having an appealing and visually stunning email newsletter is by far one of the most lucrative activities you can undertake.

First things first, how often do you currently send out email newsletters to your mailing list of clients? If the answer is anywhere between never and rarely, it’s time to change tactics. Commit to sending out an enticing email at least monthly, preferably 2-3 times per month, depending on how many brands, services and treatments you want to market.

But, it’s not just about sending the email, or getting your emails opened. It is about selling your clients on why you are a good idea, encouraging them to click, call and book.

If your clients aren’t clicking ‘book now’, or even opening your emails, this could be a case of lack of an attention grabbing subject line, which compel your customers to open your email. This needs to be stunning from the moment they glance at the email notification, making them interested in knowing more about what you want to say.

We have 4 simple ways to immediately grab your client’s attention, compel them to learn more, and ultimately turn that interest into a sale:

  1. Peer pressure.
Customers don’t like to miss out on current trends or popular treatments, and social proof is a HUGE way to entice them to book on a whim. Social proof provides credibility and drives your customers to want something even more because everyone else is doing it or getting it.

  2. What’s inside.
Get your customers guessing so they simply MUST open your email to know what’s going on. For example: “have you heard the latest trend in facials?”. Every salon customer will want to know what’s new in your salon, and their interest will likely turn into a read email and subsequent service booking.

  3. Hot spot specials and money saving deals.
No client can resist an incredible deal, like a free gift with a treatment, or even an incentive to book. For example, “call to book today and receive a free serum upon arrival at your appointment”. It’s simple and it’s effective.

  4. Do it now.
Limited offers, only 7 appointments left, and bonus deals are all a great way to compel your customers to take action, and take it now. If you create scarcity in your services, it not only makes you seem highly in demand, but your customers will also have the urgency to book or buy

Your Key to a Hydrating, Bronzed Tan

The key dilemma when searching for the perfect tanning solution that is natural looking, long-lasting, smells great, and not drying, is... does it even exist? Sunescape is your ticket to a natural, post-holiday glow. The lush coconut vanilla scent, ultra-hydrating - the solutions are enriched with vitamins, antioxidants and hydrating oils - and long lasting formula was the perfect solution to the saturation of the tanning industry.

With 3 simple bronze shades; Weekend in Bondi (light), Week in Fiji (medium), and Month in Maui (dark), your tanning experience is turned on its head, for a spray tan that doesn't look like a spray tan...
