Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics

Are You Using the Best Post-Treatment Makeup for Your Clients?

Why the Quality of Makeup You Use Post-Treatment Matters

For beauty therapists, dermatologists and skin specialists alike – finding a safe, post-treatment makeup suitable to use on their clients after cosmetic procedures is important.

Post-treatment, skin is often left red, raw and sometimes bruised. But before rushing to cover it up with makeup, you want to ensure that you are applying products with gentle ingredients onto your clients face that are safe, non-irritating and harmless.

Were you aware, many traditional makeup brands and products can compromise the skins healing process if applied to the skin too soon after a treatment? However, Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics formulas are 100% safe to use on your client’s post-treatment.

The Superior Choice for Post-Treatment Makeup

Originally formulated in a medical setting for patients recovering from harsh medical procedures such as laser, chemical peels, surgeries, and cancer treatments, Youngblood makeup is gentle enough to be applied to post-treatment skin in your salon. Makeup designed to heal while it conceals, Youngblood offers superior coverage without compromising skin health.

Clients who have undergone treatments including peels, facials, laser, IPL, skin needling, or cosmetic surgery patients, require a natural, healing makeup post-treatment, due to the tight, raw, sensitive skin that clients are temporarily left with.

The all-natural ingredients in Youngblood foundation formulas mean therapists can immediately apply a fresh face of makeup to clients, even after the most invasive treatments!  Youngblood uses premium-grade, triple-milled minerals to ensure beauty therapists and their clients can easily cover blemishes, bruising, and birthmarks, and fight and heal skin infections.

Loose Mineral Foundation – The Go-To Foundation for Beauty Professionals All Over the World

The Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Loose Mineral Foundation is a foundation, concealer and powder all-in-one. It’s superior lightweight, flagship formula works perfectly for a post-treatment makeup. With buildable coverage from sheer to full, your clients can confidently leave the salon without having to worry about looking red-faced or raw.

With 100% pure luxurious minerals that won’t block pores or cause irritation, this best-selling formula works to heal skin whilst providing coverage thanks to some powerhouse ingredients:

  • Titanium Dioxide – Protects skin with a physical sun barrier and offers exceptional coverage.

  • Mica – Adds a subtle sheen and silky-smooth texture by reflecting natural light.

  • Iron oxides – Smooth, pure and natural pigments that cover imperfections and even skin tone for all skin types.

What makes these ingredients the perfect choice for post-treatment skin is that they are safe, gentle, and non-toxic – they won’t irritate or harm the skin!

Ensure your clients are healing, not harming their skin. Become a Youngblood stockist today.

The Beauty Spot wins Salon of the Year- again! PBS Skin Summit 2019 Wrap Up

Hannah Oliver accepting the award on behalf of The Beauty Spot

There’s nothing we love more than celebrating the achievements of our salon partners, and the 2019 PBS Skin Summit – held over two days (19th & 20th May, 2019) at Sydney’s beautiful Doltone House Darling Island - was the perfect combination of celebration and education. Kicking off in style with the annual PBS Gala Dinner and a very special Image Skincare Worldwide Launch party, over 200 salon owners and beauty therapists came together to celebrate success, network with like-minded business owners and employees, and let their hair down!

The gorgeous Dani Lombard of Dani Lombard PR made for a hilarious MC, and there was plenty for guests to enjoy on the night - from Brazilian dancers shaking their tailfeathers and live band Bermuda Social playing dancefloor fillers, to a delicious 3-course meal and free-flowing drinks!

We were so excited to announce the newest brands to join the PBS Collective - Australian-made skincare brand Organic Nation, the entry-level priced Dermalux Flex, and the UK’s Lynton Lasers – and interactive displays meant guests could check out the new products for themselves throughout the evening.

As always, a photobooth provided hours of fun for attendees, but our favourite moments of the night were presenting our hardworking salon partners with their well-deserved Salon and Stockist of the Year Awards! The star of the evening was The Beauty Spot - an elegant and tranquil salon in the heart of Victoria’s Swan Hill, which scored a total of 3 nominations and took out the prestigious 2019 Salon of the Year Award for a second year running!

“Salon owner, Christine Ewart, and the amazing team at The Beauty Spot have been extraordinary ambassadors of PBS brands, and their ongoing growth proves how passionate they are about providing their clients with the best possible treatment and care. It’s one thing to have a selection of world class brands available in your salon, but The Beauty Spot also delivers outstanding treatments, next-level customer service, and life-changing results for their clients.” Matt Williams - PBS Managing Director,

Of course, Christine and her team were thrilled with their back-to- back win - “We’re so stoked to be awarded ‘Salon of the Year’ from PBS again this year! To be recognised two years in a row is just unreal, and it really motivates and inspires us to do more and be better.”

Day Two of Skin Summit was a full day of education and training designed to help our salon partners grow their business and maximise profits, and we heard from the experts on a range of business-building topics. We were honoured to have the incredibly knowledgeable Jacquelyn Hill - Image Skincare's Director of Education - join us all the way from the US to give us the inside scoop on the new range of Image masking products, and let us in on her top branding, consulting, and merchandising tips.

Guests also heard from our very own in-house Educators and Business Development Managers who ran through the latest products to join the PBS Collective, and shared insider tips on how to plan a successful and profitable event. PBS CEO Matt Williams went on to explain why a Dermalux LED System is the single best way to increase your salon's profitability, and we wrapped up the jam-packed day with a super-inspiring panel discussion, where our top salon owners shared their invaluable stories and advice. Guests benefited from the expert knowledge and practical teachings shared on the day, and walked away from the event feeling empowered to take their business to the next level!

Congratulations again to all our 2019 finalists and winners!

Salon of the Month July 2019 – Blush Boutique

about-us1-960x535.jpg

Based in tranquil Gold Creek Village, ACT, Blush Boutique prides itself on offering a complete experience thanks to a full range of services that allow clients to be pampered from head to toe. Blush’s award-winning, fully qualified team of beauty therapists and hairdressers can do it all - specialising in makeup artistry, spray tanning, body sugaring, nails, hair styling, skin care and advanced skin treatments, including LED and needling.

Having first stocked Youngblood 8 years ago, owner Sammi Barton has since gone on to add Image Skincare, Sunescape, Dermalux LED, Bestow Beauty, Pure Fiji, Body Sugaring Australia, Wotnot and Cherry Blooms to her salon’s offering, with great success.

“We started with Youngblood many years ago and fell in love with the products - as well as the support that came with being a PBS salon partner. And as PBS grew, so did we! One by one we took on new brands that we knew PBS loved and trusted, and there’s not one brand we’ve put in the salon that we haven’t loved and that hasn’t flown off the shelves. The results that each brand delivers really do speak for themselves!”

As part of their marketing activities, Blush Boutique hold at least one VIP event a year which includes an evening of education, makeup demonstrations, and a hands-on contouring and brow class. They’ve held Skin School workshops to educate clients on effectively caring for their skin using the Image Skincare AM/PM principle, and Sammi has also implemented a client membership/loyalty program that’s noticeably increased the frequency of customer visits and in salon spend.

As Blush Boutique continues to flourish, Sammi credits not only her amazing team of therapists for the salon’s success, but also the invaluable support PBS provides. Using PBS’s Marketing On A Platter (MOAP) on a daily basis to share campaigns and implement marketing strategies, both in salon and on social media, has been crucial to the success of Blush Boutique, and has freed up Sammi to focus on other areas of her business.

“As every salon owner would know, it’s extremely hard to find the time to schedule marketing and put together campaigns, so having access to social media graphics, posters and EDMs via Marketing On A Platter has been amazing. Not only has it helped me increase my average client spend and visit frequency, but it also makes merchandising in the salon a lot easier! Instead of just having a wall of products, the marketing materials from PBS help me create stories within the displays – allowing me to create eye-catching point of sale areas.”

Salon of the Month April 2019 – Pure Skin Beauty & Spa

Congratulations to Nicole Bratis and the team at Pure Skin Beauty & Spa for being named our Salon of the Month for April!

Pure Skin 4.jpg

Located in gorgeous Berri, South Australia, Pure Skin Beauty & Spa specialise in a wide range of beauty and spa services from makeup, tanning, waxing, and mani/pedis, to day spa body treatments, advanced skincare, and cosmetic treatments.

Starting out in 2007 as a sole owner/operator with 2 rooms, today the spa has five beauty therapists, two reception staff and eight treatment rooms!

“Our mission since the early days has remained the same - to deliver premium customer service and professional skincare, beauty and cosmetic treatments in an immaculate environment, obtaining maximum results as well as relaxation. We want our customers to feel at home and cared for at all times,” explains salon owner, Nicole.

After taking on Youngblood over a decade ago, Pure Skin Beauty & Spa have recently reintroduced the brand and made it the spa’s exclusive makeup range. If you’re a bride-to-be or have a special event planned you can trust you’ll be in good hands with Nicole – a two-time ABIA Makeup Artist of the Year Finalist (2016 & 2017) and a member of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Pro Makeup team for the past 5 years, who has gained exposure and a devoted following for in-salon bridal and event makeup.

Pure Skin Beauty & Spa also stock popular PBS brands Image Skincare and Bestow Beauty, and have seen fantastic results with their Dermalux LED unit.

I’d been wanting to introduce LED for years after learning about its amazing benefits and after researching the market I decided on Dermalux. A huge selling point for us was the power of the unit and its ability to provide all three wavelengths at once, as well as the preset treatment parameters that make operating the unit so easy. Since adding Dermalux to our service menu we’ve seen amazing results in the treatment of eczema, rosacea, dermatitis and acne which makes it the perfect accompaniment to our facial treatment menu.” – Nicole, owner Pure Skin Beauty & Spa

The spa prides itself on top notch customer service and has recently employed reception staff to improve customer experience and allow the therapists to focus solely on treatments throughout the day. The salon also finds that follow-up calls and SMS and email blasts keep customer satisfaction rates high, and they offer custom-designed treatments and complimentary add-ons to make each treatment extra special. “Our primary goal which we instill in our therapists has always been to ensure complete client satisfaction, pay strong attention to detail, and provide a place of comfort where the client can confide in us and feel at home whilst receiving quality professional treatments,” says Nicole.

Pure Skin Beauty & Spa continue to grow their sales and increase their clientele base with the help of social media, customer feedback and their popular VIP events. To introduce Dermalux, the spa threw a VIP launch party where a ‘Skin Bar’ offered express Dermalux treatments, mini makeovers and ‘2 for $99’ Dermalux treatments packages. “We were beyond excited to realise we’d sold $3000 worth of Dermalux packages on the night and we’re now organising a VIP launch night for Youngblood which our clients are eagerly awaiting,” said Nicole.

Pure Skin Beauty & Spa also makes regular use of the PBS MOAP sets on their social media channels and in-salon displays to generate interest and excitement around new product releases and special offers, and Nicole has found that this type of promotion see products and services sell themselves!

Well done to Nicole and her team on their amazing achievements! PBS are excited to be a part of her success story and we can’t wait to see how Pure Skin Beauty & Spa continues to grow. Congratulations on earning Salon of the Month!

Australia Bans Animal Testing

Animals were shown a lot of love this Valentine’s Day when the Australian Senate passed the Government's Industrial Chemicals Bills 2017, which included a provision to ban animal testing on chemicals used as ingredients in cosmetics. This means that Australia has finally joined the EU and the UK in effectively banning cosmetic animal testing in Australia.

While it’s widely accepted that Australia’s cosmetic industry doesn’t conduct animal testing, under these new measures the industry regulator won’t allow companies to use data gleaned from any animal testing conducted on or after July 1st 2020 when introducing a new chemical or ingredient to their products.

For too long the beauty industry has relied on outdated and questionable animal testing methods that have well-known scientific limitations. This is because different species can respond differently from each other (and importantly, differently from humans) when exposed to the same chemicals. This means that results from animal tests may not be relevant to humans because they under- or over-estimate a certain ingredient’s hazard to humans.

Animals subjected to cosmetic testing include rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, and rats. Testing methods include chemicals being rubbed onto shaved skin or dripped into eyes, repeated oral force-feeding studies lasting weeks or months to look for signs of general illness or specific health hazards (such as cancer or birth defects), and even widely condemned “lethal dose” tests in which animals are forced to swallow massive amounts of a test chemical to determine the dose that causes death. These tests cause considerable pain and distress including blindness, swollen eyes, burns, internal bleeding, organ damage, birth defects, convulsions and death. Pain relief is not provided to these animals and at the end of a test the animals are killed, typically by asphyxiation, neck-breaking or decapitation.

“The ban has been designed so there will be no incentive to conduct animal tests to meet the information requirements for introduction of chemicals used solely in cosmetics in Australia,” said Brian Quinlan from the Department of Health. The future of product testing lies in non-animal testing that focuses on how chemicals and drugs affect humans (rather than animals) and this new law will only permit safety data from testing on industrial chemicals that are for sole use in cosmetics if that testing is not performed on animals.

This ban is a huge win for the animals and an important step towards banning animal testing in all industries, worldwide. Here at Professional Beauty Solutions we’re proud to be a cruelty free company whose brands have never tested on animals and are not sold in countries where animal testing is compulsory. We’re excited to be a part of the growing cruelty free movement and look forward to watching animal testing become a thing of the past!

Salon of the Month - Toowoomba Hair Designers

A boutique salon in Hodgsonvale, 15 minutes outside Toowoomba City, Toowoomba Hair Designers specialises in hairdressing and beauty therapy. For over 17 years the team at Toowoomba Hair Designers have been devoted to providing exceptional service while offering a complete beauty experience in a relaxing environment – a lifesaver for time-poor clients.

Toowoomba Hair Designers journey with PBS started out with Youngblood over 13 years ago and they then introduced Sunescape four years later. They’ve since added Image Skincare and Bestow Beauty to their stable of brands, with both proving to be hits with their clients!

“Youngblood has been a favourite with our clients for many years because of how easy it is to use and the fact it’s a very high-quality product that can be used on all skin types,” says manager Cathy Ferguson. “I’m finding Image Skincare a very exciting brand to work with as well, and my clients are really starting to embrace and enjoy the results that Image Skincare’s products have been delivering over the past year.”

Cathy believes the business excels because they put their clients first and focus on delivering top notch customer service. In order to create a welcoming and caring environment the salon staff go out of their way to personally get to know each client and take an interest in their lives, ensuring the salon is somewhere clients look to return to for friendly conversation, relaxing treatments and great results. “To ensure we have a loyal cliental we always make sure our customers are happy and excited about their new looks and treatments, and we always educate them thoroughly about their chosen products to ensure they keep seeing results,” says Cathy.

As a part of their marketing activities the salon recently held a Bestow Beauty VIP night where they cooked up Bestow recipes, sampled Bestow herbal teas and gave out complimentary Bestow samples for clients to try. They also gave clients the opportunity to try products from the other brands they stock and even held a raffle to win a hamper of Bestow, Youngblood, Image Skincare and Sunescape products! Needless to say, the VIP night was a total success and the salon immediately saw an increase in sales of Bestow teas and recipe books, as well as Image Skincare’s I Conceal foundations.

When it comes to day-to-day promotion of the business through social media, the team at Toowoomba Hair Designers always make sure they take advantage of the monthly PBS MOAPs, using the graphics across their social media platforms to advertise special offers and discounts.

Well done to owner Kate and the team at Toowoomba Hair Designers! We’re excited to be a part of their success story and look forward to seeing how the salon continues to grow. Congratulations on earning Salon of the Month!
