Salon of the Month – Anna’s Skin and Beauty

a2.jpg

A beautifully appointed beauty salon in Townsville, Anna’s Skin and Beauty offers personalised beauty and skincare services courtesy of their experienced and passionate technician, Anna Preston.

After spending the last few years working with other local beauty therapists, Owner/Operator Anna now brings her 19 years of experience into her very own salon. Clients enjoy the specialised personal service she provides while using only the best professional skin care and mineral makeup.

“The biggest complaint I received as a manager working in previous salons was that clients see a different person each time they visit. Being an Owner/Operator, my clients see me every time. I do all the treatments and work alone. My clients love that they get me all to themselves when they come in…it’s a true one-on-one relationship” explains Anna.

However, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for Anna’s Skin and Beauty in 2018. After 14 months of trading the salon was completely destroyed by fire. “My drive and determination was stronger than the devastation I was feeling” said Anna. Throughout the heartache, she stayed positive about getting the business running again, and in a remarkable turnaround, Anna’s Skin and Beauty had re-opened at a new premise in just 4 weeks.

The business has now begun a new chapter and currently stock Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, Image Skincare and Cherry Blooms.

“I worked with Youngblood for about 14 years at a previous salon. I loved it then and thought it would be perfect for the North Queensland climate. As for Image Skincare, it’s my favourite skincare range of all time. I love the results I get for my clients and myself. Image actually CHANGES skin and people’s lives! said Anna.

On how to excel in customer service, Anna believes in continuous education and training, ensuring she’s offers the very best in client treatments and up-to-date customer education. “Being in the beauty industry for 21 years and attending countless seminars, training, customer service courses, I have learnt and developed how to give my clients 100% each and every time they come in. It’s about recognising what people want and need and providing that for them and not being lazy. As an owner operator it is up to me and me alone. I am 100% responsible for the success of my salon.” said Anna. “I am honest with my sales and client expectations. I’m not pushy, but I am helpful as I only want the best for my clients.”

Rated as one of the top 3 beauty salons in Townsville, as well as being featured in several North Queensland Magazines (including DUO, Success, and Business Development Magazine), Anna’s Skin and Beauty are also active users of Marketing on a Platter (MOAP), which allows them to easily run monthly and seasonal promotions in salon and via social media. “I LOVE MOAP, especially for inspiration and social media. The quality of the material and images provided is amazing” said Anna.

Well done to Anna for their amazing achievements 2018! We’re excited to be able to be a part of their success story and can’t wait to see how Anna’s Skin and Beauty continues to grow. Congratulations on earning Salon of the Month.

Adelaide Laser Skincare is a beautiful clinic located in the inner east Adelaide suburb of Tusmore. Owned by Justyna Rachwalska and Taryn Lucas, this small business with treatment rooms offers a range of professional treatments including facials, microdermabrasion, medical peels, micro skin needling, LED light therapy and more.

“We take the time to really understand our clients skin concerns and work together to tailor a specific approach to achieve amazing long-lasting results. We have been friends for over 15 years and worked together for a few years before deciding to open something of our own.” said Taryn.

A PBS Awards finalist for “Best Newcomer” in 2018, Adelaide Laser Skincare takes guiding their clients towards better and brighter skin to another level.

“We like to keep our business small and intimate so that our clients feel comfortable and confident in approaching us with their concerns. We are committed to providing the highest level of specialised skin treatment plans to help clients feel and look their best. We treat our clients like family and also touch base with them after their treatment to ensure they were happy with their experience and any products we have prescribed them.” explains Taryn.

Adelaide Laser Skincare stock Image Skincare and heavily rep the brand in their clinic. It wasn’t until they trailed and tested Image Skincare that they knew they wanted the range for their clients. “We were introduced to Image by a fellow college who has a salon in Ireland. We attended Beauty Expo Australia in 2017 and were very impressed by Dawn Clifford (Senior Director of Education for Image Skincare). We bought the Vital C pack to try and fell in love with the product. Six months later we finally introduced the brand in our clinic.” said Taryn.

As part of their marketing activities, Adelaide Laser Skincare offer clients a valued added loyalty program. Each time the client visits the clinic and spends $100 or more on a service or product they are reward a point. Once 12 points have been accumulated they can choose to have a night at a Gold Class Cinema for two or receive a free facial treatment to the value of $120. They also offer monthly promotions based on the Image Skincare Marketing on a Platter (MOAP) offers created by PBS. These promotions have been incredibly successful for the clinic. The initiative has increased sales as well client satisfaction and loyalty.

“With Image Skincare now our number one selling range, and still growing rapidly in our salon, we plan to host a VIP Image Skincare Event in 2019 for our clients.” said Taryn.

Well done to Taryn and Justyna for their amazing results with Image Skincare in less than 12 months! We’re excited to be able to be a part of their success story and can’t wait to see how Adelaide Laser Skincare grow. Congratulations on earning Salon of the Month.

The newly launched Sofitel Sydney in Darling Harbour was the place to be on Saturday 8th September, where 150 glamorous and excited guests arrived for the Professional Beauty Solutions (PBS) 3rd Annual Awards Gala Dinner.

The evening kicked off with champagne on arrival, canapes and the beautiful Fijian singers from Pure Fiji entertaining guests with their traditional Fijian songs and guitar playing.

With the hundreds of salon owners and beauty therapists mingling and sharing their experiences of Beauty Expo earlier that day, the evening’s MC, Dani Lombard from Dani Lombard PR started the official festivities by welcoming PBS’ salons, partners and international guests including Youngblood’s international brand ambassador and makeup artist Philip Luque, Bestow Beauty founder Janine Tait, Image Skincare’s international educator Dawn Clifford, and Dermalux’s Managing Director Dale Needham. Guests were treated to a 3-course meal while the talented White Tree Band provided the music for the evening.  A montage of Tanya Hennesy’s comical “things people say to beauty therapists & things people say to spray tanners” was also shared on the big screen, before guests where surprised with a video message from Hennesy herself, wishing everyone a great night and best of luck to all the nominees.

As the drinks continued to flow, the PBS Awards ceremony kicked into full gear with winners announced in 12 categories and runner’s up in 3 categories. This year was the first year we also recognised the outstanding achievements of salons who have been with PBS less than 12 months, with the introduction of the Best Newcomer Award!  It was also the first time we announced a tie for any award, with Body Wisdom Contour Clinic and O’Hara Skin & Body (both from WA) taking home the Image Skincare Stockist of the Year Award!

However, the night belonged to The Beauty Spot, an elegant and tranquil salon centrally located in the heart of Swan Hill, Victoria.  With a total of 9 nominations across all categories, they took home the prestigious Salon of the Year Award for 2018. Salon owner, Christine Ewart took to Instagram to share the salons latest achievement “PBS Salon of the Year 2018! Can you believe that? What an amazing night! And year! And 7 years!”

Whether you are seeking a luxurious treatment or need help with problematic skin, stepping inside Turramurra Natural Beauty’s (TNB) tranquil, calming and nurturing environment instantly invites you to shed your worries and surrender yourself to exquisite treatments that will rejuvenate, uplift and relax you to your core.

TNB_2.jpg

Located in Sydney’s Upper North Shore, TNB offers a broad range of facial treatments that nourish, protect and transform your complexion. Guided by respected and renowned skincare specialist, Tracie Horn, their highly trained senior therapists specialise in providing luxurious facials alongside advanced skincare treatments.

TBN currently stock a number of PBS brands including Dermalux LED, Image Skincare and Bestow Beauty.

“We added Dermalux LED to our salon menu one year ago and from that moment the LED has not stopped! We have achieved remarkable results for our clients including (but not limited to) acne, anti-ageing and wound healing. However, it wasn’t until we added the second component in February 2018 which was the Image Skincare range, that we could deliver faster results for compromised skin.” said Tracie.

What makes TNB so special is their attention to every detail about their clients, using unique and specially tailored treatment approaches to each client to focus on their skin’s individual needs. “As part of our ongoing commitment to identify and address our client’s skin concerns, our dedicated team provide a comprehensive consultation that enables us to offer in-salon treatments combined with at-home products for a full 360° approach. We have a deep commitment to our customers and our brands, therefore to ensure we offer the very best in client treatments and up-to-date customer education, all staff continue with ongoing education and training.” explains Tracie.

As part of their marketing activities, TNB have run several email campaigns over the last 6 months,  including a bundle of 3 LED sessions for $99.00 which was received well by their clients. However, the real success came on the back of news that Meghan Markle had been receiving Dermalux LED treatments in the lead up to the Royal Wedding. TNB put together a “Sparkle like Markle” email campaign in June and sold an incredible 15 LED packages for $999 (which included unlimited LED for 3 months).

“These two promotions were incredibly successful for us. The initiative has increased sales as well as client visits to the clinic which gave us a chance to retail and cross-promote other services to them. Our clients have been extremely impressed with the changes in their skin through LED and by following their Image Skincare at-home skincare prescription”. said Tracie.

With four treatment rooms already in operation, Tracie is now developing a dedicated express LED Light Bar which is planned to open later this year.

Well done to Tracie and her team for their amazing results with Dermalux and Image Skincare! We’re excited to be able to be a part of their success story and can’t wait to see how Turramurra Natural Beauty continues to grow. Congratulations on earning Salon of the Month.

Salon of the Month – Macquarie Medi Spa

MMS-Logo_2.PNG

The salon that thrives together, stays together. Boutique, luxury medi spa located in Bathurst, Macquarie Medi Spa, takes this statement seriously in everything they do, and is exactly the reason why they have been awarded 12 accolades in the industry since 2016.

In operation since 2001 and spreading their skin and beauty expertise across two award-winning medi spas in Bathurst and Orange, the team at Macquarie Medi Spa pride themselves on the intensive skincare training they undergo on a regular basis to give their clients the best service and care possible.

“We offer all aspects of skin and spa treatments, including everything from body to lashes to intensive skin needling services,” Karla McDiarmid, the owner of Macquarie Medi Spa explains. “We have 12 skin and spa therapists, and also visiting specialists come in who offer injectables, cosmetic tattooing and cosmetic laser procedures.”

MMS BX STAFF (002).jpg

To stay relevant and as successful as they are in a constantly changing industry, Karla and the team invested in renovations to their business in 2013, not only rebuilding on the location itself, but by investing in new technology and spa equipment to give their guests the best experience possible. Located in rural NSW, Karla understands the importance of continuing to update her medi spa to please her loyal clients, AND interest potential new visitors and guests to the area. But what is a key element in her business activities in Bathurst, is to give back to the community.

Most salons and spas offer great service, but what sets us apart is what we do for the community. We sponsor many charities and fundraisers to give back to those less fortunate, with what we are lucky to have.

By hosting VIP nights, movie nights and even hiring the local ice staking rink for their loyal clients, as well as being invited to attend local schools to educate teens about skin health and makeup application throughout Central West NSW, Karla is all about her community.

This is why Macquarie Medi Spa has been a Pure Fiji stockist and avid fans for over 8 years and growing. “I love the philosophy behind the brand, and that not only can you have fantastic skin with their products, but you are creating jobs and supporting families in need in Fiji when you use Pure Fiji!” exclaims Karla.

When the cyclone hit several years ago, we donated items from our spa and customers, which were shipped directly over. We also took suitcases of school items to deliver to children in Fijian villages on the last Pure Fiji conference. I will never forget my experiences with Pure Fiji and my passion for this wonderful brand.

Multi-time Australian Beauty Industry Awards (ABIA) winner, Macquarie Medi Spa is also a new Bestow Beauty stockist after attending Janine Tait’s Holistic training (founder of Bestow) in Melbourne in July.

Their success speaks for itself and it stems from their focus on the little things to begin. Touches like herbal tea to every guest, electric blankets, and complimentary bath salts on departure, along with their regular VIP events, promotions in salon and professional trained staff with expert knowledge allows them to leap ahead of the competition and perfect their main goal as therapists, to make their clients feel as relaxed and beautiful as possible.

It’s no secret that Macquarie Medi Spa and owner Karla, are forces to be reckoned with. From being crowned ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the Bathurst Business Awards as well as ‘Spa Director of the Year’ and ‘Best Salon Team’ at the ABIA’s, to being recognised on a global stage with ‘Best Spa Manager’ and ‘Global Beauty Salon of the Year’ at the World Luxury Spa Awards multiple years running, we had to add another award to their belt.

Congratulations to Macquarie Medi Spa for being our August PBS Salon of the Month!
