Salon of the Month - Simply Laser

Simply Laser is a beautiful Medispa located in a discreet but central location of Brisbane CBD, Queensland. With their doors open for over four years, Simply Laser are devoted to providing their clients with the very latest and best technology in non-surgical cosmetic treatments and lasers, focusing their entire clinic philosophy around delivering the best they can to their clients with the highest-grade treatments and products. 

Simply Laser stock Image Skincare and heavily reps the brand in their clinic. After trialing and testing Image Skincare, salon owner Leona Gallagher new she wanted the range for her clients. “I had heard lots of great things about Image and I loved the company’s philosophy and the ingredients used in their products,” said Leona. 

What makes Simply Laser so special is their attention to every detail about their clients, using unique and specially tailored treatment approaches to each client to focus on their skin’s individual need.  

We provide every client with a complimentary skincare diagnosis and we tailor make a treatment plan for their specific needs” explains Leona. Their team also prides itself on exceptional customer service, ensuring they listen to understand expectations and talk through any concerns their clients may have.

As part of their marketing activities, Simply Laser recently held a huge VIP night, where clients could buy 3 products and get 1 free. They have also run several social media campaigns with a complimentary skin analysis and Image Peel as the prize to propel the reach of their salon into surrounding suburbs to Brisbane.

The results of these two initiatives have been “incredible”, says Leona. “Our sales increased during both promotions as we incorporated a lot of link selling with these clients in the months after, filling in the gaps in their skincare routine.” In addition to this, Simply Laser have also implemented a loyalty program for their VIP clients. Loyalty points can be earned by referring family and friends, birthday celebrations or for every dollar spent in salon and are redeemable on any product or service. 

When it comes to social media, Simply Laser are very active users, spreading the Image Skincare love to their 6000 + fan following. On top of this, they have been working closely with a number of social media influencers by performing Image Peels on them for their photoshoots.

Salon of the Month - Zwar Beauty

Cutting down her salon menu by more than half her original offerings, and only focusing on her core treatments – skincare and facials – was a huge risk for Zwar Beauty’s Tenille Dodd. But it is a leap of faith that paid off for the dedicated and passionate salon owner, allowing her business to become the success it is today and giving Tenille the opportunity to hone her craft as one of the best facialists in Port Lincoln, South Australia.

I think if you have the passion and confidence in what you are doing and selling, your goals and dreams come to you without really having to try.

Zwar Beauty’s Tenille takes guiding her clients towards better and brighter skin to another level. Beyond performing a simple treatment, from a facial to makeup application, the philosophy at Zwar Beauty is to take a client and treat them with the same care as you would your own skin, and provide them with the proper post-treatment education to ensure they come out feeling confident and comfortable.

“I see too many clients come in who have been using their products incorrectly and it makes me really upset as I know ingredients like Vitamin A, Glycolic, Retinol are powerful and if they are prescribed incorrectly they can cause more damage to the skin than good,” Tenille exclaims.

This is why she places the utmost importance on the skin consultation and follows up with every client that walks through her doors to make sure their prescribed skincare routine is being followed meticulously. Most recently, Tenille experienced amazing success through charging for her comprehensive skin consultations as a service, resulting in high volumes of retail sales from her clients, who have not been able to deny the work they must put in at home as well as in the treatment room.

A free 15-minute consult is just not enough time to consult correctly, and discuss skin health, advise topical prescription and set up a treatment plan.

“My clients just want to be guided to make sure they are doing the right thing with their skin,” Tenille mentions. “So, I make sure to message every client that comes in for a facial a few days later to touch base.”

Tenille has stocked Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics for 7 years and it is still one of her most powerful brands. In addition to this, she also stocks Sunescape Tan, Bestow Beauty and Wotnot to back the key performer of her business Image Skincare. “I have been saying to myself ‘where have you been all my skin therapist life’ after introducing Image to my salon!” says Tenille.

Image Skincare has allowed me to take my clients’ facials to the next step. My clients are noticing a huge difference in their own skin, and I’m feeling huge results on myself. I’m speechless!

Apart from amazing brands that produce amazing results for her clients, Tenille places her success largely on the customer service she provides as a sole operator. Working on her own, Tenille allows enough time between each client to give them a comfortable, relaxed experience, in addition to enough allowance to focus on the business side of operations too.

“We live in such a stressful world now, that clients just want a treatment that is purely focused on them, and I’ll go above and beyond to give them that,” Tenille explains. “We are the one thing you can’t buy online, so I want to make it memorable for my clients.”

The extremely loyal clients at Zwar Beauty have also flocked to events held by Tenille, including a recent makeup masterclass for Youngblood, focusing on educating clients on wearing makeup that does not undo the results of a facial and is actually good for the skin. This resulted in greater client loyalty and an increase in Youngblood retail sales, with many even coming back to restock their products!

In April, Tenille also ran an extremely successful Facebook competition for her clients, asking ‘Why you would want to win a facial with me’, resulting in not only 3 winners due to high demand, but dozens of other clients taking up the facial deal on offer.

“I work my business from the saying ‘don’t be better, be different’, and I honestly think this is the reason why I have had such a strong rebooking clientele,” Tenille enlightens. “My clients know I love my job, they can see and feel it through their facial treatments. I know there is no other salon nearby that specialises in skin like I do!”

Salon of the Month - Body Central Lifestyle Centre

Situated in Osbourne Park, north west of Perth, Body Central (BC) is a unique concept for the Australian health and beauty market! The brain child of Tony and Jody Robson, Body Central has been a solid presence in the heath, fitness and wellness industry for over 25 years, and together with its specialty fitness classes and health and nutrition coaching program, they now house a state of the art skin clinic which specialises in delivering the latest evidence-based treatments.

In short, Body Central’s purpose is to provide a world-class holistic health environment supporting its clientele in achieving their ‘whole of body’ objectives,” explains Jody. “These services are innovatively delivered through a range of packages which are entirely flexible for our clients to choose from.

Body Central currently stock a number of PBS brands including Image Skincare, Dermalux LED, Sunescape, Caronlab and Wotnot to give their clients everything they need, from a healthy faux glow to clinically-based results.

“We did extensive research during the fit out and creation stage. I spoke to nearly every skin company over an eight-month period, trialed their products, then I started to investigate other areas such as company support, profit margins, promotions and marketing activity. Image Skincare was by far the best decision we’ve made. The product suits our client base and the results we are seeing are fantastic,” says Jody.  

In addition to skincare, Body Central offer a large range of wellness products in their retail space, to cover both internal and external skin health. They also have a health coach onsite to offer lifestyle and nutrition advice.

Body Central look after their clientele by combining value added packages across their fitness and skin clinic. By combining skin and fitness in the one program they are able to reach a wider range of clients who wouldn’t normally frequent their skin clinic, making it the ideal induction to the additional services they offer.

We have a great 8 Week ‘New You’ program which includes fitness, wellness and skin. This program is like a transformation package and at the end of it the client receives one Image Skincare Facial and then a Dermalux LED session the following week,” explains Jody. “The program has been very successful and has increased sales both in the clinic and with Image products.

The team at Body Central frequently use MOAP as part of their social media campaigns to promote their strongest treatments, Dermalux and Image Skincare. They have also hosted a number of book launches for ‘Gut Health Guru’, Lee Homes, to keep their clients informed and educated about the importance of taking a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. With clients raving about the launches, Body Central are now hoping to add more events to their 2018 calendar.

Rene maintains her commitment to training her staff by holding a ‘Style Session’ once a month in the spa for a specialist training session. “We normally focus on a specific skin condition or a treatment, and do the treatments on each other because you cannot give the love to your clients if you are never getting it yourself!”, Rene exclaims.

Along with their extensive sales and product training, and consultation meetings with their Business Development Manager putting them at the forefront of the industry, The Temple is also unique in their investment to bringing the latest technology to their clients to give them the results they deserve.

We have 3 Dermalux LED machines in our business as they absolutely rock the results and the cash flow! Not one person that walks through our door doesn’t need the LED.

The Temple Skincare & Spa follows the old saying, ‘if you don’t look after your customers then someone else will’, and encourage their clients to constantly give them feedback via an automated survey sent directly to their email once their treatment is finished, allowing them to act on any concerns or post any raving fan comments onto their social media pages.

Along with the promise to provide the best results, The Temple also runs a rewards program that allows clients to earn points for every dollar they spend and redeem on their favourite services. According to Rene, this program has been very successful and helps them to donate some of the percentage of profits to the Look Good Feel Better Foundation.

In recent years, The Temple has won several awards in their spa, including Winner of ABIA Beauty Salon and Business Owner of the Year in 2016, something that Rene and the team accredit to the brands they stock and the support and training that PBS provide.

It is refreshing to have a supplier that has the knowledge to understand that supporting their clients and empowering them with the tools they need to grow is key. I have been in the industry for 25 years and there are few companies that supply this level of marketing and support to the standard of MOAP, along with the exceptionally skilled trainers like Denise.

Salon of the Month - Pure Hair & Beauty Dalby

Based in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, Pure Hair & Beauty is one of Dalby’s most luxurious hair & beauty salons.

Pure Hair & Beauty prides itself on offering a complete experience and full range of services, allowing clients to be beautified from head to toe. The dedicated, fully qualified team specialise in makeup artistry, nails, hair styling, skincare, advanced skin treatment and spray tanning throughout the salons two beauty rooms, two nail tables and eight styling chairs.

Having first stocked Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics 4 years ago, salon owner Kerry Slee has since gone to add Image Skincare, Sunescape, Dermalux LED, Bestow Beauty, Body Sugaring Australia, Cherry Blooms and Wotnot to her salon’s offering.

We wholly and completely trust PBS to source the best products for us. After stocking a few PBS brands, I never question when they bring in a new range. I know it is going to be of the highest quality and amazing!

On how to excel in customer service, Kerry and the team at Pure Hair & Beauty believe in continuous education and training, ensuring they offer the very best in client treatments and up-to-date customer education. In addition to this, the salon always ensures their clients are happy with their service, treatment or products.

We either call the client or ask them to fill out a survey for us. We always receive wonderful reviews!

As part of their marketing activities, Pure Hair & Beauty gave all of their clients a complementary Dermalux Treatment gift voucher as a Christmas Gift. This was a huge success for the salon explained Slee, as the “initiative has increased re-bookings for all of our salon services as it encourages our clients to come in and use the Dermalux during the quieter months. It also gives us a chance to retail and cross-promote other services to them.”

Pure Hair & Beauty are also active users of Marketing on a Platter (MOAP), which allows them to easily run monthly and seasonal promotions in salon, via social media, and through email blasts to their customer database.

We are constantly changing our advertising material to keep the salon fresh and updated. We also send out emails on any specials we have, or new product launches. Our clients get excited about new products, plus it also creates great awareness of the services and brands available in salon.

Salon of the Month - Gusollios Hair Studio & Spa

Congratulations to Melissa McColl and the team at Gusollios Hair and Spa for being named our Salon of the Month for February! Located in the country town of Young, NSW, Gusollios Hair and Spa specialise in providing professional hair and beauty services and only stock the best products to give Young and surrounding areas access to the best this industry has to offer! 

The salon has created a space that their clients can escape to a tranquil environment and state of relaxation. With three fully functioning treatment rooms upstairs (a Vichy shower, tanning/treatment room and pedicure room) with a makeup studio attached. Plus, hairdressing services and a downstairs treatment room, Gusollios Hair and Spa ensure that all guests can ‘have it all’. 

“We like to meet the highest of standards with our professional expectations”, explains salon owner, Melissa McColl. “Because of this we have created a clientele base which extends to surrounding towns and cities, including Canberra, Sydney and Wagga Wagga. Every day we welcome new clients and enjoy seeing all our existing clients who travel to see us.”

Customer service is a major part of our company, and when you love and believe in the products you have to offer to your clients our services become so much more.

Gusollios Hair and Spa has also found success in using PBS’ Marketing on a Platter (MOAP), using social media graphics to promote their products on social media as well as Youngblood 4 Minute Makeovers to upsell and introduce new products to their clients.

In addition to this, their biggest success of the year was the launch of the new Youngblood #ColorCrays Matte Lip Crayons. Their sales were so successful that they needed to re-order four times during the space of three weeks as stock was flying out the door! 

Being a professional in our industry, it is important to ensure we give our clients the best service we can provide and offer the best products. This is the window of opportunity where it is essential to create a relationship with our client to give them the best results possible.
